A Conversation with Alex Jacquemin
ALEX JACQUEMIN began playing guitar at the age of sixteen. Self-taught in the blues and rock tradition, he studies guitar with Louis Soler, with whom he concentrates on musicality by highlighting melody and technical mastery.
A long stay at the CMCN (French modern music school) from student to professor trains him in the knowledge of jazz standards, and during a year’s study at the Berklee School in Boston, he meets international musicians who stimulate him to develop his personal style. An open-mindedness to the many styles of guitar-playing allows him to approach jazz while mixing other essential colors during a solo or in a composition.
A regular fixture on the Parisian jazz scene, his quartet and trio have played numerous concerts in diverse venues since Alex’s return from the United States in 1997.
