Venue Rules & Etiquette

Our goal is to provide an unparalleled experience in an atmosphere of elegance, class, and sophistication. To ensure everyone’s enjoyment, we ask all guests to observe the following guidelines:

DINING

Enjoy our table service with modern American cuisine featuring a New Orleans flair, handcrafted cocktails, and a fine selection of wines. Arrive early to indulge in a relaxed dining experience. View our Food & Drink menus. Please note that ticket prices include entertainment only; food and drinks are purchased separately.

MINIMUM PURCHASE REQUIREMENT

We ask each guest to meet a minimum spend of $25 on food and/or drinks (excluding taxes and gratuity). An 18% gratuity will be added to all food and beverage purchases. We encourage guests to bring their appetites and savor our exceptional cuisine, Signature Cocktails, and curated wines.

GROUP POLICY FOR LARGE PARTIES

To ensure every guest enjoys the intimate atmosphere and experience we provide, we can no longer accommodate parties of more than 4 seated at the same table. For groups larger than 4, the following policies apply:

  • Guests will be seated separately across smaller tables. We cannot join tables to accommodate large parties.

  • For parties of 12 or more, a minimum spend of $40 per person is required. This amount does not include taxes or gratuity.

  • A valid credit card must be held at the time of reservation or ticket purchase. This card will only be charged if the group fails to meet the minimum spend requirement
     

If your group would require a larger space, please consider the option to buy out or rent the room. For more details, review Options 2 and 3 on our Private Functions page.

CODE OF CONDUCT

Our space is designed for a calm, comfortable, and enjoyable experience. We ask all guests to be courteous and mindful of others, respecting our shared atmosphere. Behavior that is disruptive or detracts from the experience of other guests will not be tolerated. Specifically, we ask that guests refrain from:

  • Loud Conversations.
     

  • Using your cell phones in speaker mode.
     

  • Changing seats frequently.
     

  • Getting on stage during the performance.
     

  • Repeated photography or video recording of the performance.
     

  • Engaging in any behavior that may be offensive or harmful to others.

 

PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES
To ensure the comfort and safety of all guests, the following activities are not permitted on our premises:

 

  • Consuming personal alcoholic beverages.
     

  • Possession of concealed weapons.
     

  • Use of illegal substances.
     

  • Distribution of promotional materials.
     

  • Littering or obstructing pathways and doorways.
     

  • Use of offensive, threatening, or discriminatory language.
     

  • Smoking (including cigars, cigarettes, vapes, marijuana, or e-cigarettes).
     

  • Harassment or offensive behavior toward guests or staff.
     

  • Any form of discrimination, aggression, or intimidation.


Thank you for helping us create a welcoming, sophisticated environment. Management reserves the right to address behavior that disrupts the atmosphere. 

LATE ARRIVAL

Our events begin promptly, and seats not claimed by showtime may be forfeited. If you anticipate being late, please text (803) 563-8375 so we can hold your seat(s). In the event you cannot attend, contact us to explore the possibility of transferring your ticket to a future show. Please note that tickets are nonrefundable, and refunds will not be provided for late arrivals. 

OUTSIDE FOOD & DECOR

To maintain our refined atmosphere, outside food, drinks, and decorations are not permitted. 

AGE REQUIREMENT

At Chayz Lounge, we welcome adult guests aged 21 and older for a refined, mature experience. 

SEATING ARRANGEMENTS

Seating is assigned upon arrival in our cabaret-style layout, which may include sharing tables with other guests. If you are part of a group, please notify us in advance by texting 803-563-8375, and we will do our best to accommodate your seating preferences.

SEAT OCCUPANCY

The purchase of food and beverage supports our sustainable business model. If you purchase seats for fewer people than your table’s capacity, there is a $25 charge per empty seat.

ACCESSIBLE SEATING

We offer accessible seating for patrons with ADA needs or service animals. For assistance, please text us at 803-563-8375. 

 

HEALTH & SAFETY

The health of our patrons and staff is a priority. Please do not enter if you are feeling unwell. Security cameras are in use throughout the venue to ensure a safe environment.

  • Can I bring balloons to a show?
    We welcome all individuals and groups to spend an evening at our venue enjoying a show while celebrating a special occasion. However, please be mindful that you are attending a public performance. Therefore, we do not allow decor, including balloons, to be brought into the venue.
  • Can I celebrate a birthday or anniversary at a show?
    We welcome small groups to spend an evening at our establishment enjoying a show while celebrating a special occasion. However, our room is arranged with tables that seat 2, 4, and limited tables that seat 6 people. Due to the intimate setting of our space, we cannot accommodate groups larger than 6 at the same table. We cannot combine tables to accommodate large groups. If your party exceeds 6 people, please inform us by TEXT to 803-563-8375 so we can arrange to have your party seated close together. Additionally, Outside food & drinks, including cake, cupcakes, water, soda, etc., are NOT permitted inside our establishment. Balloons or other types of decor are not permitted when attending a public performance. IMPORTANT: Please be mindful of the fact that the room is not exclusive to your group. Once the performance begins, guests are required to keep their conversations to a reasonable, private volume so as to not negatively impact others in the room and to be respectful to the artists, and performance in general. Any excessive volume of conversation or excessive distractions from the performance by your invited guests will be respectfully addressed by management. We reserve the right to ask any guest to leave our establishment if these behaviors are demonstrated.
  • Can I rent your venue for an event?
    Chayz Lounge is the perfect place to host intimate gatherings. Our venue may not be large compared to some, but it is the perfect size for the right event. We offer seating for up to 64 guests with a total interior capacity of 99. As well, our outdoor courtyard accommodates an additional 24 seated guests and is available as additional rental space.   • Can I take pictures or video?
    Taking pictures and video clips of our shows to share on social media is permitted. However, due to contractual obligations, the recording of the performances in its entirety (audio or video) is strictly prohibited. We encourage you to put your phones away and enjoy the show.
  • Can I watch sports at your restaurant?
    No. Ours is a jazz bistro that offers an elegant, upscale atmosphere to relax after work, spend the evening with friends, or a romantic night out. What sets us apart is warm ambiance and delectable cuisine paired with the finest contemporary jazz acts.
  • How do I make reservations for a show?
    Tickets and seat reservations are secured online only. We do not accept payments or reservations by phone. Visit our Shows page and then click the GET TICKETS or RSVP button. You will be redirected to Eventbrite where you can purchase your tickets or reserve a spot for Jazz After 5 or our Sunday Jazz Brunch.
  • How do I contact someone?

  • How early can I arrive for a show?
    Our door times are as follows: Wednesdays (on occasion): 6:00 pm Thursdays: 6:00 pm Fridays & Saturdays: 6:30 pm Sundays: 12:00 pm We encourage guests to arrive at the above times to enjoy a relaxed dining experience.
  • Is smoking allowed?
    Smoking cigarettes, vapes, marijuana, or e-cigarettes is not permitted anywhere on our premises. Guests wishing to smoke must do so at least fifty (50) feet of the away from our building.
  • Is talking allowed during the shows?
    Chayz Lounge is best described as an intimate listening room. We understand that conversation among patrons is expected and encouraged. However, we ask all guests to be mindful of the fact that they are in a shared space and the level of their conversations as not to interfere with the enjoyment of other guests. Management reserves the right to address loud conversations or behavior by guests that is considered to be disorderly, inappropriate, or in violation of our policies. In such instances, guests may be asked to leave the premises and no refund will be provided.
  • What are your hours of operation?
    Our hours are as follows: Fridays & Saturday: 6:30pm - 10pm Sunday Jazz Brunch: 12pm - 3pm On occasion, we will have a show or special event on a Wednesdays or Thursdays. In such cases, the hours are from 6pm - 9pm.
  • What can I expect at Chayz Lounge?
    Chayz Lounge the premier jazz bistro renowned for offering the finest contemporary jazz and rhythm & blues acts in an elegant, upscale atmosphere. An evening at Chayz Lounge is like a retreat to an elegant room filled with a symphony of sounds, aromas of delicious dishes and repose in what feels like your own private living room.   • What's your refund policy?
    All sales are final. No refunds or exchanges will be issued due to scheduling conflicts, illness, or other personal issues. We also do not have a credit system. Click here to read more about our Refund/Cancellation Policy.
  • Where are you located?
    We are located at 607 Meeting Street in the heart of the River District in West Columbia, SC. We are 5-minutes, 1.5 miles from the Gervais Street Bridge. Click here to view the map.
  • What's the minimum age to attend a show?
    Chayz Lounge is an upscale, adults-only venue welcoming guests 21 and older. We are dedicated to providing an exceptional experience and maintaining the highest standards for our guests.
  • Where can I park?
    Parking is available in our lot (adjacent to our building). Additional parking is available in the following areas: Salon 561 Meeting Street Interiors The Antique Shop (blue building) adjacent to our lot The lot of the vacant building adjacent to ours
  • Why is there a cover charge for your shows?
    In order to compensate the extraordinary caliber of talent featured at our establishment, we must charge admission. The average cover charge is $30. However, depending on the act, the cover charge can be higher.
